During World War II more than 200 people from the Dutch resistance were executed by the German army in the dunes of the Waalsdorper-vlakte. Nowadays the Waalsdorpervlakte serves as natural reserve. The only visual remainings of the horrible executions are a monument of 6 bronze crosses which represent the victims, and the plains themselves.
I imagined what it would have felt like walking these plains, as if I was one of the 215 people walking their death path. Supported by the gunfire from of the military next to the Waalsdorpervlakte, it gave my walk a really strange atmosphere.
The work resulted in both a photoseries and a book.
